Programs and Performances

Diane Macklin: Story Teller: Small Wonders and Stupendous Feats!

Enjoy marvelous tales of unlikely heroes that defy the impossible through kindness, friendship, and courage. January 15th at 11:30 a.m.

Happenstance: Pinot and Augustine

A sure-fire 45-minute, bilingual, crowd-pleaser, PINOT & AUGUSTINE is a classic, family-friendly clown duo inspired by the golden age of Circus.  Pinot is the authoritarian clown in fancy clothes and white cone hat. Augustine is the appealing red-nosed bumbler who punctures his pomposity.  Their show bubbles over with physical comedy, virtuosity and musical surprises from the sublime to the ridiculous: from lyrical melodies on a musical saw to pratfalls and a whoopee cushion. January 22nd 11 a.m. and April 16th 11 a.m.

Diane Macklin: Cosmic Connections

A family friendly, interactive program shining with folktales that highlight our relationship with the sky and one another. Each story is bursting with peace, friendship, and wisdom. February 26th 11:30 a.m.

Alex and Olmsted: Milo the Magnificent

Alex and Olmsted's Jim Henson Foundation Grant awarded Milo the Magnificent is a highly engaging puppet show about an aspiring magician. This wordless comedy, inspired by turn of the century vaudeville entertainers, is as highly physical as it is charming. Using stunningly innovative puppetry, Milo presents a variety of magic tricks which don’t always go as planned. Great for all ages! March 19th 11:00 a.m.

Silly Goose and Val

Val Smalkin presents a fast-paced, humorous 40-minute musical treat with puppets, ventriloquism, dancing, singing, and 100% audience participation. Her Parents' Choice award-winning songs and her Maryland State Arts Council award-winning solo performance are guaranteed to delight tots, tweens, and teens...and the timeworn, as well! March 20th 11 a.m. and April 9th 11 a.m.

The Discovery Stage Series is supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council (msac.org).
