School Field Trip Programs at Port Discovery
Hands-on learning and adventures at Port Discovery can be enhanced through the many educational, interactive and fun programs offered at the Museum. Choose from programs focusing on Arts & Culture, STEM, Healthy Families: Healthy Communities, Early Education, and more – and help children get hands-on with the topics they’re learning about in the classroom!

Fill out the information request form to receive more information and to begin the process of scheduling your school group visit! Schools are encouraged to book their trip to Port Discovery at least four weeks in advance. Reservations are required. In-Person Field Trips: Rates begin at $12.00 per person (required school group chaperones enter for free). Additional discounts may be available for Maryland Students.
Important: $100 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking. The balance is due one (1) week prior to your visit date. Purchase orders and personal checks are not acceptable forms of payment.
Rescheduling & Cancellation Policy: To avoid forfeiture of any payments, you must contact Port Discovery Group Sales within one week of your original visit date to reschedule.

Field Trip Programs
In this program, students will learn how coding and robotics can be used to solve real world problems, and see technology and engineering as something they can do themselves! This program debunks stereotypes, while fostering self-agency and social-emotional learning, and provides endless opportunities for risk taking, problem solving, goal setting, storytelling, and team work.
Farm-ercise is a high-energy, interactive program that teaches the four categories of exercise and their importance, using the theme of farming. Our facilitator will guide participants through a farmer’s work day. Dances and games about endurance, strength, flexibility, and balance will be intermixed with challenges about agriculture, hydration, and rest. Learn the physical demands of being a farmer while understanding the benefits of getting “Farm Strong”.
Students will transform into archelogies and use their new knowledge and skills to discover the pharaohs tomb. Student will use problem solving skills and their archeologist research journal to complete their exploration and find the lost pharaoh’s treasure.
Through play, our young scientists will learn about the forces that help this happen! Together we will take a look at the evolution in maritime travel, from canoes to modern day shipping containers, by recreating the ships. Participants will gain understanding of concepts such as density and force, and the fun of engineering!
Students will explore the art of sculpture and science with Tensile Bubble Sculptures. Design and construct different architectural shapes and forms, both organic and geometric. Have fun creating different sculptural forms, shapes, and sizes! Then conduct experiments to see if those structures can make a tensile bubble form!
A $100 non-refundable deposit is due at time of booking. The balance is due one (1) week prior to your scheduled visit date. All major credit cards are accepted and payment can be made using a secure, credit card link via email. Purchase orders and personal checks are not acceptable forms of payment. Please leave ample time for mailing delays when mailing a school check.
To avoid forfeiture of any payments, you must contact Group Sales within one (1) week of your original date of visit to reschedule. New rescheduled dates must occur within one calendar year to avoid forfeiture of payment.
Refunds are not granted for any decrease in attendance. Only the attendance outlined in your contract is guaranteed museum entry. Additional people will not be allowed on the day of your visit. Please contact Group Sales as soon as your attendance increases to determine if the museum has available space to accommodate changes. Attendance substitutions are also prohibited.
All chaperones must be 18 years of age or older and meet the required adult to child ratio. Inattentive chaperones and/or disorderly behavior from the group or staff could result in the group’s immediate dismissal from the museum.
You are more than welcome to bring lunch on the day of your visit. All food and beverages must remain inside of your group’s lunch area. We do offer a coat room area and free lockers for storage. The museum is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
If Port Discovery Children’s Museum or your organization is closed are operating on a late schedule, please contact Group Sales immediately to reschedule to the next available date to avoid forfeiture of funds.
