DESCRIPTION:Our newest exhibit expansions since the SkyClimber will open to the public- a two for one grand opening! Now introducing Galactic Builders\, our newest space themed STEAM exhibit\, and SKIES\, sky themed sensory friendly exhibit! \nGalactic Builders\nWe’re excited to debut Galactic Builders – an otherworldly exhibit that introduces young visitors to basic concepts in engineering and physics with the background of a creative\, space themed landscape. The exhibit is intended to promote play-based inquiry\, mechanical engineer\, systems thinking\, and collaborative testing! Exhibit activities include parachute testing\, rover building\, and rocket launching—all of which engage curiosity and creativity in achieving the longest flight or the fastest rover. \nSKIES\nWith Galactic Builders we’ll be debuting SKIES – a fully immersive\, low sensory\, calming exhibit themed on the daily sky rotation between the sunrise and sunset\, and the curiosity invoked by our planet’s ever-shifting cloudscape. The design of this quiet play zone will incorporate the colorful movement of clouds and the cycles of the sun and moon. \nThe exhibit spaces will include reading nooks\, a soft resting zone\, sensory walls\, lounge swing\, and pillow/blanket fort building activity. This peaceful retreat encourages visitors to slow down through tactile engagement\, multigenerational interactions\, and moments of observation. \nWe hope to see you at the museum to try out the new exhibits and celebrate the continuing change and growth going on here at the museum! \nDue to scheduling\, programs are subject to change. All the activities and crafts were created by our staff and kept you and your little one in mind. \nProgramming for October 31st Includes…\nDiscovery Tales Halloween Edition : 10:30AM\nA special edition of a Port Discovery classic\, reading our favorite seasonal tales and singing some spooky songs! \nCostume Parade into the Glow in the Dark Disco Party : 11AM\nDon your Halloween gear and march in our annual parade around the museum. At the end of the parade is the glow in the dark disco party! \nMonster Makers : 12PM\nDesign your very own creepy monster sock puppet to take home. \nSTEAM Spooktacular : 1PM to 3PM\nFour special Halloween themed activities all at once for our first STEAM Spooktacular. \n\nFloat-a-Ghost: Using our wind tunnel and recycled materials\, guests can engineer a ghost of their own and then send it soaring up to the rafters of the museum.\n\n\nBat Zipline: Guests will design a bat and then test it one of our ziplines to see how it flies around the room.\n\n\nFizzy Pumpkins: Using chemistry skills\, guests will combine different ingredients to create bubbling cauldrons inside of tiny pumpkins.\nCreepy Coding: Can you help our mouse friends find their way to some cheese? This coding activity puts your technology skills to the test as you help our friend Colby the mouse through a haunted maze.\n\nCostume Parade into the Glow in the Dark Disco Party : 3PM\nDon your Halloween gear and march in our annual parade around the museum.
