Is the Museum open on holidays?

We love holidays, and we are open for many of them! During the summer of 2019, we will be open for holidays including Independence Day and Labor Day. Holiday hours for September 3, 2019 – on will be announced soon.

Please note that the parking garage adjacent to the Museum often is unable to honor parking validations on holidays and/or school breaks. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Are there any days that groups don’t visit Port Discovery? How can I find out how many groups might be at the Museum on the day of my visit?

In June, July and August, we offer Family Play Days each Monday. These are days where we ask groups to take the day off from visiting us so that families and members have an opportunity to play, learn and explore in a less crowded environment.

On other weekdays, groups are welcome to join us. However, we’ve enhanced the group experience so that our families and members still have a chance to play, learn and explore in a less crowded environment while camp and field trip groups benefit from guided programs in the Museum and in an area called The Construction Zone.

What does my admission support? Why do adults pay admission?

Port Discovery Children’s Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit. Every dollar we raise through admission, donations, grants, and other funding sources is invested into the Museum and into the community. Your admission helps us pay for things like exhibits, programs, materials, maintenance, cleaning, electricity and more. Your admission and donations also helps us fund things like community access programs, outreach into schools, Judy Centers, YMCAs and other community locations, and much more.

Are there any special discounts and/or coupons available for my visit?

Salute the Troops: Port Discovery is offering active duty, veteran and retired military members free admission beginning June 14, 2019 through July 4, 2019 as part of our Salute the Troops program. Guests of service members receive $2.00 off general admission. Valid military identification or veterans ID is required for free admission.*

Salute the Troops helps provide military families with opportunities to enjoy time playing and learning together while creating joyful memories. The program is made possible thanks to funding from an anonymous donor.
