10 Summer Events for Families in Baltimore

Are you in the market for some summer events? We’ve got you covered! From sleepovers to concerts to art classes to special celebrations, here are 10 fun summer events that you can attend with your family.

Ice Cream Weekend Celebration at Port Discovery!

On July 16th and 17th, Port Discovery Children’s Museum is celebrating National Ice Cream Day with a whole weekend full of ice cream fun! Sample ice cream from Baltimore in a Box Ice Cream on Saturday, July 16th. Get a coupon for a free small cone with purchase at Lucky’s. And more! This event is supported in part by Lucky’s Coffee, Ice Cream, and Candy. There’s also lots more to do at Port Discovery this summer! Check out our event calendar for more information.

Baltimore by Baltimore

Every Saturday from 12 p.m.- 8 p.m. until November, visit the Inner Harbor for “a free celebration of the music, makers, and munchies that make Baltimore truly special.” There will be kid-friendly events on July 2nd and September 3rd especially! (Plus stop by Port Discovery’s table on those dates and say hi!)

Baltimore 4th of July Celebration

The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA), Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) and Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore (WPB) have worked together to bring a 4th of July celebration back to the Harbor! From 4 p.m.- 9:30 p.m., there will be live music. At 9:30 p.m., there will be a firework show on the Waterfront Promenade.

Twilight Family Stroll at the Zoo

On July 2nd, learn how to use your senses in the dark and how animals adapt to the dark on a guided tour! Visit natural habitats and participate in games that help you learn how animals use their senses. Also happening August 6th.

Zoo Snooze

Sleepover at the zoo in either the Penguin Education Center or Main Valley. Explore exhibits, learn about some of the animals at the zoo and get admission to the zoo the next day!

Flicks from the Hill

Every Thursday in July, watch a movie on Federal Hill curtesy of the American Visionary Art Museum. Plus, visit the museum (it’s free!).

First Thursdays

WTMD’s First Thursdays are back this summer! The festival is free and includes over 60 vendors. There’s also a Saturday Morning Tunes Kids Corner. All concerts are located in the Canton Waterfront Park.

Concerts in Sherwood Gardens

Visit Sherwood Gardens on select Saturdays this summer for live music. Or visit any day to see the summer flower display.

Waterfront Wellness Classes

Take free fitness classes with your family this summer! Options include a bootcamp with MissionFit, line dancing with Terry Townes of Jubilee Arts, and two yoga classes.

Kerplunk! Drop-In Family Art Classes

While some of what’s on this list are great events to go to with older kids, this summer series is perfect for younger kids and their families! Join the Creative Alliance every Saturday from 12-3 until August 20th. Art projects will vary and are completely free.
