Allegis Volunteers at Port Discovery during Global Day of Service

Thank you Allegis for dedicating your time and talents to Port Discovery!

Allegis Global Solutions, a global provider of managed services programs and recruitment process outsourcing, visited Port Discovery on Friday, April 20 with a large group of their employees and an even larger commitment to community service, to volunteer their time and effort to beautifying your favorite children’s museum!

Volunteers dedicated their time and attention to painting tabletops that will be in our StudioWorkshop area. These beautiful art pieces will serve as inspiration for children as they paint, create, and use their imaginations to bring their visions to life!

Volunteers also spent time creating materials that were used in activities for our Countdown to Kindergarten event and materials that will be used at our annual Play It Forward Gala. The crew worked diligently at different tasks that varied from rolling clay balls, cutting paper and tissue, and creating shapes from construction paper.

Port Discovery had an opportunity to speak briefly with Senior Vice President, Steve Schumacher, where he explained the importance of Allegis honoring a day where they give back to the community.

“It’s just our way to give back. We know thousands of kids come through here, so we are happy to serve and give back to the children of Baltimore. We’re a Baltimore based company, so we want to spend time within this market serving the people here, but we were in Detroit last year…so wherever we go we just have a spirit of service that we want to bring in.”

Allegis Global volunteers also painted the loading dock to Port Discovery adding character and flair to the exterior of the building. The day of their visit happened to be during National Volunteer Week. This was the perfect way to make a large impact on the community through small, yet meaningful tasks.

We would like to thank Allegis once again for their commitment, hard work, and big hearts! We recognize how service to others can bring satisfaction to those helping, but would also like to acknowledge that it is also the gift that will continue to give as children and families visit us and are inspired and motivated by your acts of kindness and selflessness.
