All aboard in August at Port Discovery! This month we are Going Places, with activities and programs themed around travel, vehicles, and transportation. Set sail for school at the end of August, learn how the North Star is important for navigation, create a UFO out of recycled materials and more! August Hours: Port Discovery is open seven days a week with Play Session from 10 AM – 1 PM and 2 PM – 5 PM. Capacity is limited. Purchase tickets online ahead of visiting.

Explore themes such as hope, hard work, persistence, and friendship as you venture through classic works including The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Quiet Cricket, The Very Lonely Firefly, The Very Clumsy Click Beetle and The Very Busy Spider from beloved author/illustrator Eric Carle. Set Sail for School
Visit Port Discovery on August 27th and get ready for school! Join us to make some of your own school supplies, enter to win a Bedtime in a Box, visit three floors of exhibits to engage in back to school activities and grab lots of giveaways. Studio Takeover with Kelsey Joyce
Guest artist Kelsey Joyce returns to Port Discovery to facilitate a UFO take-home art project! Create a UFO out of recyclable materials, complete with little pom-pom aliens.

Drumming Them Drums
Join Port Discovery’s own resident musician, Mr. Seth, in a drum circle experience! Use one of our loaner drums and learn how African drumming has been used for communication. Fridays at 3 p.m.
Sing-A-Long with Mr. Seth
Join Port Discovery’s own resident musician, Mr. Seth, in a beach themed sing-a-long with live, acoustic guitar accompaniment. Listen and sing both old favorites and original road-trip songs. Wednesdays at 3 p.m.
The Movement Laboratory
Participate in yoga inspired activities that will encourage the development of spatial awareness, confidence, and both physical and mental strength. See how movement can keep us calm and cool. Fridays at 11 a.m.
Tots on Board
Get on board and join your friends at Port Discovery for a singing, swinging story time for toddlers. This month’s books will be focused on vehicles and transportation. Ring, rattle, and make music with us! Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
BearTube sensation Ted “Theodore” Bearson presents TeD-dy Talks! This informative presentation will feature puppets, slideshows, and morale boosting lessons good for little and big kids alike. Thursdays at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Parachutes are a form of transportation that can move people and objects from one place to another. Participate in a selection of dramatic activities using a variety of giant parachutes. Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The Play Fair Game Show
An interactive game show that combines matching, multiple choice, and carnival inspired challenges. The audience will test their knowledge and skills against the host for the chance to win take-home prizes. This month’s challenges and questions will be themed around geography and international trivia. Saturdays and Sundays at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
