Fun, adventure and learning await in The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD® Exhibit
The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD® exhibit features our much-loved and silly companion leading the way to amazing adventures in four pretend environments - – a jungle, an archaeological dig site, the ocean and outer space – all designed to help children develop a spirit of adventure as they learn.
Besides having fun, there are plenty of learning opportunities built into this hands-on exhibit, making it full of opportunities for purposeful play and learning.
Check out this short video from WMAR ABC2 Baltimore that explains some of what you’ll learn in this interesting and hands-on exhibit, and read more about what’s to learn below!
Early Learners: As your early learner explores each of the pretend environments, they’ll take part in activities that help them develop early literacy skills, listening and understanding and speaking and communicating. They’ll also engage in pre-math/logical thinking, problem solving, and activities that help them recognize diversity. In addition, they’ll be encouraged to explore curiosity and persistence, invention and imagination, and reasoning and reflecting as they adventure through this hands-on exhibit. Additional areas children will explore including skills related to safety and well being, fine and gross motor skills, self-expression and self-control, and social interaction.
School Age: As your school-age learner goes on an adventure to remember, they’ll be encouraged to use and build a variety of skills including reading, language arts, math and logical thinking, science and problem solving, social studies and diversity, art, music, health and safety, and physical education. They’ll also take part in activities that help develop self-concept and social competence and that encourage invention, imagination, and task persistence and attentiveness.
How can you help your children or students get the most out of their visit through The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD® exhibit? As you explore each area, encourage children to welcome new experiences with confidence, curiosity and humor, to think about all they can be and do, and to always respect themselves and others. Guides posted in each setting highlight activities that will help children develop the important skills mentioned above.
