Grant Supports Port Discovery’s Efforts to Increase Accessibility, Programming, Events and Services for People with Disabilities and Their Families, Caregivers and Educators
Thank you to The Safeway Foundation, who recently awarded Port Discovery Children’s Museum with a $10,000 grant to support the Museum’s efforts to create a fully accessible environment for children with disabilities to connect purposeful play and learning.
The grant will help fund efforts to collect input and feedback from our community regarding their needs, train Port Discovery staff and make updates to Museum environments to better serve children with disabilities and their families, caretakers and educators, and launch new programming and events designed for families including children with disabilities.
“We know that all children and adults emerging from the pandemic are in great need of developmentally supportive, uplifting, stress-relieving play.” Said Bryn Parchman, President & CEO of Port Discovery Children’s Museum. “This funding will help us expand our capacity to provide children with disabilities programs that are accessible, supportive, and helpful in enhancing learning and developmental opportunities.”
