August Events and Programs at Port Discovery

All aboard in August at Port Discovery! This month we are Going Places, with activities and programs themed around travel, vehicles, and transportation. Set sail for school at the end of August, learn how the North Star is important for navigation, create a UFO out of recycled materials and more! Plus, don’t miss out on the Very Eric Carle: A Very Hungry, Quiet, Lonely, Clumsy, Busy Exhibit traveling exhibit leaving us on September 5th!

July Programs and Events at Port Discovery

Join Port Discovery in July for Keep It Cool Month as summertime is in full swing. Activities and events will center on how we can keep our bodies and emotions cool. On July 16th and 17th, celebrate National Ice Cream Day with special guest Baltimore in a Box Ice Cream. Plus, join us for our 4th of July Weekend Celebration, featuring activities that reference flags, food, and fireworks. July might be the peak of the heat, but Port Discovery is going to Keep It Cool!

Join Port Discovery in June for “Celebrate Our Stories” month! Activities and programs will center learning about and celebrating the unique contributions of other people and of ourselves. Design your own family coat of arms. Learn how African drumming has been used for communication. Watch a selection of Kamishibai stories. Celebrate how African American music has impacted American music and culture. Help bring stories to life with guest artist Kelsey Joyce. And more!

Salute the Troops: May 30th- July 4th 2022

Port Discovery is offering active duty, veteran, and retired military members free admission beginning Monday, May 30th through Monday, July 4th, 2022 as part of our Salute the Troops program. Guests of service members receive $2.00 off general admission. Valid military identification or veterans ID is required for free admission. Only one free admission can be applied per purchase.*

Children’s Mental Health Month Builds Awareness and Support

Each May, we recognize Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month here at Port Discovery by promoting awareness and access to information and resources that support the mental health and well-being of children. We also reflect on the supportive and healing power of play as a critical factor in promoting overall health, mental health, and well-being.

Join Port Discovery in May for “Once Upon a Book” with activities, events and programs inspired by all things books! Tot Tales: Story time for Toddlers will feature books from the American Library Association’s “Notable Children’s Books” lists. Watch short, interactive puppet cooking shows combining abbreviated versions of famous children’s books, real food facts and pretend food props right in Tiny’s Diner!

April Programs and Events at Port Discovery Children's Museum

April at Port Discovery is Nature Month, featuring nature-focused educational content, Spring Break and Play it Forward. Join us for “Week for the Young Child” for a few activities geared just for little ones. Learn about nature through Robinson Nature Center programs, Wildlife Adventures, a Bird Talent Show from Port Discovery’s own Performing Arts Specialist, and more! See special performances during spring break, like Eric Energy’s magic show and the award winning Silly Goose and Val puppet show.
