Visitor Tips: Very Eric Carle: A Very Hungry, Quiet, Lonely, Clumsy, Busy Exhibit

Planning to visit Port Discovery Children’s Museum to explore Very Eric Carle: A Very Hungry, Quiet, Lonely, Clumsy, Busy Exhibit

Through hands-on and immersive experiences, you will enter the colorful and distinctive landscapes imagined by Eric Carle.

To make the most of your journey through Very Eric Carle, consider these tips for families and educators:

Family Tips

  • Take time to talk and experience the exhibit as a family. Use the experience to make memories together, to explore and play together, and to learn about your little learner along the way.

  • Ask questions! Ask children what they see and observe, what they are feeling, why they think something works the way it does, and help them make connections to the world around them.

  • Share your experiences. What real world connections can you apply to what you are learning or doing? For instance – do you remember reading the Very Hungry Caterpillar as a child? Hearing symphonies of crickets when camping with friends or family? Share your experiences and memories with one another.

Educator & Camp Group Tips

  • Learn more about the Very Eric Carle exhibit ahead of your visit by checking out what you’ll see and do and our learning guide.

  • Think about your group’s needs and consider selecting components in the exhibit that will have the strongest impact on your students.

  • Consider telling your students about the exhibit and/or taking part in activities related to the exhibit ahead of your visit.

  • Ask questions to understand how your class is interacting with the space and what they are feeling. Help them make connections to real life experiences that they may have had in your classroom, camp experience or at home.
