From adventuring all around the world with Mr. Potato Head® at The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD® exhibit to learning the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling with circus tricks at Robinson Nature Center, November at Port Discovery is packed full of purposeful play, learning and fun! $2 Family Fun Night | Friday, November 16 | 4 – 8 PM
Admission $2 for individuals ages two and up. Members and children under two enter free.

Explore The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD® exhibit, circus science, books and three floors of hands-on, interactive exhibits for just $2 per person! Join us for $2 Family Fun Night on Friday, November 16 from 4-8PM. 

Take part in drop-in programming including our interactive Circle Time featuring stories and songs, learn science through circus tricks and more! This is a great chance to explore our newest addition, The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD® exhibit, where visitors can crawl through a jungle cave, dig for treasure, go scuba diving, and command a space station with MR. POTATO HEAD®. Learn about basic animal care and interaction from the MD SPCA and much more!

Tickets for this event must be purchased in person at the event. We're sorry, but advanced ticket purchases are not available for $2 Family Fun Nights.



Salute the Troops
November 11, 2018 – January 1, 2019

Free admission for active duty, veterans and retired military*

As part of the Salute the Troops Program, active duty, veterans and retired military receive free admission to Port Discovery Children’s Museum beginning November 11, 2018 through January 1, 2019. Guests of service members will receive $2.00 off general admission. Simply present valid military or veterans ID to take advantage of this offer.*
*Present valid Military ID, Veterans ID, State Driver’s License with Veterans Designation or Discharge Papers (photocopies acceptable) to redeem offer. One free admission per transaction. No other discounts, offers or passes may be applied within the same transaction.

 

Thrifty Tuesdays & Thursdays
Admission is $10 on select Tuesday and Thursday afternoons  

Visit for less! Visit Port Discovery on Tuesday and Thursdays from 1-4PM for just $10. That’s more than $5 off each general admission ticket! Enjoy hands-on, interactive exhibits and educational programs that spark imagination and learning in a place custom made for kids! Have an out-of-this world silly adventure with MR. POTATO HEAD® when you explore The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD® exhibit, open now at Port Discovery! Travel the globe and have fun learning on a jungle safari, an archeological dig, under the sea and outer space. Crawl through a jungle cave, dig for treasure, go scuba diving, and command a space station as you think about all you can be and do!

The national exhibit tour is sponsored by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation, with additional support provided by Debra Altshul-Stark and Brian Stark, and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. Fantastic Fridays

Join Port Discovery on Fridays for drop-in programs that teach through play! Explore movement and music together as you sing and dance along during our lively Tiny Tots Music Time. Introduce children to early literacy skills during Mother Goose on the Loose®, take part in our signature Circle Time, and create simple art projects as a family at Pop-Up Art!

Healthy First Saturday
Saturday, November 3 | 10 AM – 5PM

Admission is free with museum entry, which is $15.95 for individuals two and up. Members and children under two enter free.

Get the wiggles out as you learn about healthy activities and habits for your little one – and your entire family! Breath, pose and balance during Life on Yoga Mountain. Dance and sing with The Kindersinger during the fun and active Kinderfit! program. Learn early literacy skills in Mother Goose on the Loose®, plus learn about health, fitness and other topics during the interactive UMBC Health Fair.

Reduce, Reuse, Re-circus – At Robinson Nature Center
Saturday, November 3 | 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM | Robinson Nature Center
Free with general admission or Robinson annual pass
With juggling, rolling globe walking, lasso spinning, plate spinning, and much more, learn how we can re-use everyday objects. Audience members will help Port Discovery’s Performing Arts Manager and former Ringling Circus performer, Gregory May, throughout this high energy circus arts experience. Guests will even try their hands at some of the tricks themselves, all while learning the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. Ages 3-10 with adult.

Super Sundays
Sundays in November| November 4, 11, 18 & 25

Admission is free with museum entry, which is $15.95 for individuals two and up. Members and children under two enter free.

Wrap up your weekend by exploring and hanging fun as a whole family! Explore movement and music together as you bop along to Tiny Tots Music Time.  Join in interactive story times, and work together to create art or science projects during Pop-Up Art or at STEM Stations. Plus, build early literacy skills for infants and toddlers in Mother Goose on the Loose®.

 

Littles’ Day
Saturday, November 10 | 10AM – 5PM

Join in a day of play designed especially for little learners! Sing, dance and get active during The Kindersinger’s Kinderfit program. Put your imagination to work as you get your face painted. Try out yoga poses – and see how they can help your little one balance, focus and stretch – during Magical Mats. Plus try out interactive circus tricks that help you learn about science, build early literacy skills in our Mother Goose on the Loose® program, and make-and-take fun art projects at our Pop-Up Art Stations
 

 

 


Play Within a Play: Rosha and the Sun – At Robinson Nature Center
Saturday, November 10 | 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM | Robinson Nature Center

Free with general admission or Robinson annual pass

Become the performers, set designers, and the lighting and sound technicians of their your own show—a Mayan folktale about a little boy who steals his sister’s hair to capture the Sun. The little girl tries to get the help of the animals in the forest to free the Sun, but it is the littlest of creatures that saves the day. While experiencing animals and nature in folklore, Robinson’s guests will learn how theatrical productions are crafted, rehearsed, and performed. Ages 3-10 with adult.

Discovery Week

Tuesday, November 13 – Friday, November 16  | 10 AM – 1 PM Daily
Admission is free with museum entry, which is $15.95 for individuals two and up. Members and children under two enter free.

Discovery Week features opportunities and programs designed especially for children with special needs. Children of all abilities are invited to play, learn and explore together in a safe, inclusive environment during this fun week filled with special sensory activities, story times and performances.

  • Tuesday, November 13: Portability Day! Inclusive day for children on the autism spectrum and their peers. All ages.
  • Wednesday, November 14: For children with special needs. Pre-K to 2nd grade.
  • Thursday, November 15: For children with special needs. 3rd grade and up.
  • Friday, November 16: Be Part of the Arts Day! Inclusive day. All ages.


Taters for Tots Spectacular

Saturday, November 17 10 AM – 5PM
Admission is free with museum entry, which is $15.95 for individuals two and up. Members and children under two enter free.

Have an out-of-this world silly adventure with MR. POTATO HEAD® during Taters for Tots Days! Join in an interactive theatrical program, Where in the World is MR. POTATO HEAD®, and help figure out where our favorite spud-venturer has gone by decoding strange messages, dancing, singing and tons of audience interaction. Go on an archaeological dig by studying sand-filled tumblers and discovering the treasures within, build a digital clock that runs on real potato power in MR. POTATO HEAD® Clocks and create images, designs and patters to create a mosaic of some of the creatures you found during your Spud-Ventures with MR. POTATO HEAD®. That’s not all – you can also use your scientific and archaeological skills to uncover Ancient Egyptian facts during an interactive tour and program, Adventure Expedition’s Archaeologist of the Future, plus put your senses to work in the “Did You Feel That” STEM Station and sensory-friendly Potato Flake Garden Bed activity. Spud-tacular fun for all ages!

American Indian Heritage Weekend

Learn about the traditions and heritage of local American Indian tribes throughout American Indian Heritage Weekend! Join us for American Indian Heritage Day on Friday, November 23 and throughout the Thanksgiving weekend to learn about American Indian Heritage through hands-on demonstrations, performances and activities.

Infant and Toddler Time
Wednesdays in November| November 7, 14, 21, 28 | 10 AM – 4 PM

Looking for fun, educational programs for your toddler? Join Port Discovery for Todder Time on Wednesdays, when drop-in programming is designed especially for children ages birth to six! Join in interactive story times, explore rhythm and music together during our fun and interactive Tiny Tots Music Time and introduce children to early literacy skills through Mother Goose on the Loose®. Get your child up and moving during Backyard Games Circuit where they’ll get their heart rate up and pumping.


Mess Zone & Clay Play in the BGE Studio Workshop
Open daily during operating hours

Practice painting, printmaking, clay sculpting and more as you spark your child’s imagination through fun, hands-on art projects in the BGE Studio Workshop! Enter the Mess Zone as we work together to paint and create art. Or get your hands dirty digging and playing during our Clay Play activity.  Not crazy about getting messy? That’s okay! We’ll have other activities to enjoy as well.


Circle Time
Weekdays during operating hours 11:30 AM  | Check event calendar for weekend times

Bring your little ones to Port Discovery's interactive Circle Time with a changing variety of songs, stories, and fun! Watch your child's imagination come to life as they get involved in the story and dance and sing along! Plus explore three floors of interactive, hands-on exhibits designed to teach children through play during your visit.
 

Tiny Tots Music Time
Wednesdays at 11:30 am, Fridays at 11:30 am, 12:15 pm Sundays at 2:30 pm, 3:15 pm, and 4:00 pm

Explore music and movement through play, laughter and lots of fun! This lively interactive music experience (formerly known as Jingle Jangle Music Time) teaches infants and young toddlers basic rhythm through singing, clapping, and shaking shakers. Birth to age 3 with a parent or caregiver.
 

Mother Goose on the Loose®
Wednesdays at 10:30 am Fridays at 10:30 am, Sundays at 1:30 pm

Mother Goose is on the Loose at Port Discovery! Reciting nursery rhymes with puppets, flannel board characters, book illustrations, songs, and musical instruments in this joyful setting helps children develop early literacy skills through play! Birth to age 3 with a parent or caregiver.
