Sun, Earth, Universe Traveling Exhibit

Sun, Earth, Universe Traveling Mini-Exhibit

Attract and entertain visitors while engaging them in fun, playful learning about science, space, agriculture and other topics with a mini-exhibition from Port Discovery Children’s Museum!

Exhibits for Rent or Use     Here We Grow!    Nano

Sun, Earth, Universe  is an interactive mini exhibition about Earth and space science that encourages children to think about questions like how the Earth is changing, what other planets are like, and how storms on the Sun affect life on Earth through hands-on activities. Visitors can engineer a model spacecraft, use infrared cameras, ultraviolet light and more to see images from space that are invisible to the naked eye, and take part in activities that encourage children to explore and think about the Sun, our planet, and the universe.

Overview of Sun, Earth, Univerese

Engineer a model spacecraft, use infrared cameras, ultraviolet light and more to see images from space that are invisible to the naked eye, and take part in activities that encourage children to explore and think about the Sun, our planet, and the universe.

The Sun, Earth, Universe exhibit encourages children to think about  questions like how the Earth is changing, what other planets are like, and how storms on the Sun affect life on Earth through hands-on activities.

In the Sun, Earth, Universe exhibit, children can:

  • Build model spacecraft using plastic and foam pieces and test their creation via a parts checklist, spin test and shake test.
  • Use an infrared camera, magnification, ultraviolet light and magnetic fields to reveal images that are invisible to the naked eye.
  • Play a space-themed board game to learn and test space mission-planning knowledge
  • Get hands-on with a space-inspired play table for toddlers
  • Learn about space, engineering, and more via space-themed books and reading cards
  • See fascinating visuals taken by NASA spacecraft

Areas of the Sun, Earth, Universe exhibit include:

  • Design > Build > Test Engineering Activity: Explore the engineering process used to design, build, test, and improve spacecraft! Learn about the tools you need to complete a mission – and then build and test a spacecraft of your very own!
  • Use Tools to Detect the Invisible Activity:  Use an infrared camera, magnification, ultraviolet light and magnetic fields to reveal images that are invisible to the naked eye!
  • Your Mission to Space Board Game Activity: Put all your space mission-planning knowledge to the test by playing this board game. Will your mission be the first to be completed? What will you discover?
  • Mars Landscape Play Table: Little scientists use imaginative play while exploring the surface of Mars with toy rovers and spacecraft.
  • Reading, Seating and Feedback Area: Sit back and relax while browsing space-themed books and reading cards. Learn about upcoming astronomical events, local events, citizen science opportunities, and share your thoughts about space-themed questions
