About Port Discovery 

Port Discovery Children’s Museum is a mid-size 501c3 non-profit with the mission to provide unique opportunities and high-quality experiences that make play accessible, educational, and fun for all. 

Since 1998, the Museum has served over 5 million visitors as one of the mid-Atlantic region’s leading children’s museums. Our core programming includes exhibits and creative activities in our 80,000 square foot museum, access programs for students and low-income families, educational programs and workshops for local school districts, and two generational programming for parents and early childhood educators. On average, the Museum sees 225,000 annual visitors, which includes families, teachers, and students; and its marketing reach includes: over 28,000 email subscribers, 2,244 museum members, and social media audience of approximately 25,000. 

RFP Overview 

Port Discovery invites applicants to submit proposals to provide comprehensive digital advertising services for the Museum for the period of one year. We are specifically looking for a contractor with extensive knowledge in digital advertising including but not limited to: Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram Ads, Sponsored Content, TikTok, Bing, podcasting, OTT, and YouTube. We also require knowledge in SEO, SEO best practices, and the ability to adapt with the ever-changing SEO and digital landscape. Proposals are welcome from agencies, individual consultants, or consultant duos/teams. 

The goal of this RFP is to find a consultancy partner to support the Marketing and Communications team in (a) meeting revenue goals for general admission, special events, memberships, field trips and other revenue lines and (b) creating/amplifying awareness about Port Discovery.  

Scope of Work 

To provide comprehensive support for ongoing Museum digital advertising. This, in turn, assists Museum tickets sales and directly counts toward sales goals. Required work needs are as follows: 

Advertising
  • Prepare and execute all digital advertising placements 
  • Digital media planning and buying, including working with clients and completing correspondence for media buying for the museum 
  • Testing different advertising platforms, creative, etc.  
  • Copywriting and editing 
  • Preferred- design for digital advertising, including graphic design, videography and animation 
  • Preferred- help Port Discovery with SEO work on website and in other digital areas 
Account Management
  • Brainstorm with the Port Discovery team about advertising opportunities 
  • Internally manage set budget and billing 
  • Get Port Discovery approval for advertising and other costs before launching any campaign 
  • Consistently adapt to change in the digital advertising landscape 
  • Report bi-weekly on campaign status 
  • At the end of each campaign, create an analytical report detailing effectiveness of campaign and providing future suggestions  
Qualifications 
  • Extensive knowledge of digital advertising, especially as it relates to the cultural/education sector, Baltimore City, and the Baltimore region at-large.  
  • Experience with Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram Ads, TikTok, Bing, podcasting, OTT, and YouTube 
  • Understanding of SEO trends, best practices 
  • Proficient in Canva and Adobe, or other design platform 
  • Proficient in Google Analytics and other necessary analytic tools  
  • Solid copywriting and editing skills 
  • Flexibility, patience, and adaptability  
  • A passion for the Museum’s mission and service to the children and families of Baltimore and beyond. 

Compensation 

For this scope of work over the term of one year, Port Discovery has a budget of $75,000-90,000 for compensation. Additionally, Port Discovery’s advertising budget is $75,000-90,000, which is divided between all of the aforementioned goals.  

Timeline 

We are accepting proposals through June 1, though interviews are ongoing so applicants should not wait to submit. Target date for the contract to begin is July 1, 2023 to go through June 30, 2024.

Please submit a proposal that includes your experience/resume, short bio, sample timeline/workplan, projected hours per week/month to allot to Port Discovery, links/images of at least 3 past work examples, as well as a short cover letter discussing your interest in this contract. Submit the proposal, which should be no more than 10 pages (including work samples) to the contact below.
