September hours: Port Discovery is open Friday from 9:30-3, Saturday from 10-5, and Sunday from 11-5. Capacity is limited. Purchase tickets online ahead of visiting.

Very Eric Carle: A Very Hungry, Quiet, Lonely, Clumsy, Busy Exhibit

Step into the pages of author Eric Carle's books with Port Discovery Children’s Museum’s limited time exhibit – Very Eric Carle. Explore themes such as hope, hard work, persistence, and friendship as you venture through classic works including The Very Hungry CaterpillarThe Very Quiet Cricket, The Very Lonely Firefly, The Very Clumsy Click Beetle and The Very Busy Spider from beloved author/illustrator Eric Carle. Locally sponsored by: M&T Bank. Media Sponsor: Maryland Public Television. Co-organized by Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. Very Eric Carle closes on September 5th.

The Play Fair Game Show

Flower Crown

Artist Frida Kahlo was known for her beautiful flower crowns that are a symbol of Mexican national pride. Flower crowns are made and worn by men and women in many cultures to celebrate special occasions. Guests will make a colorful headband of flowers for themselves or someone they love.

Self Portraits Inspired by Frida Kahlo

Be inspired by the amazing Mexican artist Frida. Kahlo, best known for her self-portraits. Using step by step instructions and paint sticks, guests will create their own self portraitwith special details. 9/16-9/30

Letter Writing

In celebration of World Letter Writing Day guests will be able to write a letter orpostcard that can be “mailed” at a Port Discovery mailbox. 9/16-9/30
