Winter Break at Port Discovery
Join us for 12 Days of Play from December 22nd-January 2nd!
‘Tis the season for a winter break filled with fun and special educational activities from our Learning & Visitor Experience team! Port Discovery will be open for extended hours, offering children and their caregivers the chance to enjoy a variety of interactive, hands-on activities each day during our “12 Days of Play” celebration. Every day will feature a unique theme, making each visit extra special as we count down to our signature event: Noontime New Year!

12 Days of Play (December 24th – January 4th)
Enjoy 12 Days of Play across Winter Break with special themed days! Each day features a new theme packed with playful activities that spark curiosity and invite families to learn, explore, and make memories together. From engineering and puppeteering, to storytelling and movement, there’s something new and exciting to experience every day!
- Home Time Fun – Wednesday, December 24th (Christmas Eve): Closed
- Though the museum is closed, we invite you to continue playtime at home, making memories, exploring imagination and having fun together! We’ll be posting a special video activity for you and your family, which you can do together at home.
- Family – Thursday, December 25th (Christmas Day): Closed
- Though the museum is closed, we invite you to continue playtime at home, making memories, exploring imagination and having fun together! Tune in for a special video featuring Peake the Pup-Pet exploring holiday traditions and stories.
- Blast Off! – Friday, December 26th: 10AM – 5PM
- 3… 2… 1… Blast Off into a day of out-of-this world fun! We’re kicking off the 12 Days of Play with a space-themed adventure filled with stellar activities, cosmic crafts, and intergalactic exploration.
- Music – Friday, December 27th: 10AM – 5PM
- ‘Tis the season to dance and sing with joy! Explore various genres of music and play with hands-on sound makers and instruments.
- Dig It – Friday, December 28th: 10AM – 5PM
- Put on your explorer hat and get ready to Dig It! Unearth fossils, brush away the past, and stomp like a dinosaur as you explore the exciting world of archeology.
- Going Wild – Friday, December 29th: 10AM – 5PM
- It’s time to unleash your inner animal during Going Wild, a day full of furry, feathery, and fantastically fun adventures! Whether you stomp like an elephant, flutter like a butterfly, or slither like a snake, get ready to explore the animal kingdom in the most playful way.
- Pop It – Tuesday, December 30th: 10AM – 5PM
- We’re chasing the magic of bubbles during Pop It, a day bursting with joy! Whether you’re making giant bubbles or tiny ones, this day is all about celebrating the simplicity of a good POP!
- Let’s Celebrate! – Wednesday, December 31st (Noontime New Year) : 10AM – 3PM
- Wrap up the year with a joyful day of play during Noontime New Year! We’re throwing the biggest party of the year full of cheerful music, a giant balloon drop, and festive activities that highlight what make this time of year so special!
- Pajama Jam – Thursday, January 1st : 10AM – 5PM
- Roll out of bed and jump right into the fun at Pajama Jam! Wear your favorite pajamas and get ready for a day filled with cozy activities, playful stories, and relaxed, comfy learning!
- Sparkle & Shine – Friday, January 1st : 10AM – 5PM
- Get ready to light up your day with Sparkle and Shine, a celebration of all things bright and beautiful! Explore the science of light through hands-on activities that shimmer, glow, and reflect.
- We ❤ Baltimore – Saturday, January 3rd : 10AM – 5PM
- We ❤ Baltimore is a joyful tribute to the people, place, and spirit that make our city one of a kind. We’re celebrating the city we call home with a day full of playful activities inspired by Baltimore’s culture, and hands-on fun that highlights everything we love about Charm City – from the harbor to the neighborhoods, from Old Bay to Orioles orange.
- Move It – Sunday, January 4th: 11AM – 5PM
- Jump, run, stretch, and play: Today is all about movement and fun! Move It is all about celebrating the ways our bodies can move through active games, silly challenges and sporty adventures.
