Mark your calendars for Port Discovery’s new homeschool offerings!

Join us for a day of excitement, exploration, and learning, all by the way of play! Embark on a self-guided journey throughout the three floors of fun Port Discovery has to offer and tap into special workshops offered just for our homeschoolers on these special days.

*Homeschool Days and workshops are not drop-off programs. Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the museum and within special workshops.

Pricing

  • General Admission Tickets are $15 per person and include all day admission to explore the museum as well as one workshop.
  • Members’ tickets are $7.50 per person, which includes access to one homeschool day workshop at a discounted price as part of Port Discovery’s exclusive membership benefits. 

Additional discounts cannot be applied to our Homeschool special program tickets for either adults or children. Additional tickets may not be purchased with memberships or other discounts.

Science in Our World: States of Matters – February 7, 2025

Workshop sessions at 10:30am and 1:30pm

Dive into the fascinating world of science as we explore the three states of matter—solids, liquids, and gases! Through hands-on experiments, you’ll experience how molecules behave in each state while using your whole body to bring these concepts to life. Watch as a solid and liquid transform into a gas, and see if you can create a solid by mixing two liquids together. It’s a fun and interactive event that makes science both engaging and unforgettable!

Science in Our World: Let Water WOW You! - February 14, 2025

Workshop sessions at 10:30am and 1:30pm

Learn all about water cycle as we play with water in new ways and take home a Port Discovery water masterpiece. Then venture over to our redesigned Wonders of Water exhibit for even more water fun!

Art Around the World: Mosaics – February 21, 2025

Workshop sessions at 10:30am and 1:30pm

Explore the world of mosaics in this hands-on workshop! Take a tour of famous mosaics from around the globe, with a special focus on the stunning pieces in Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia. Learn about the techniques and history behind these intricate artworks, then try your hand at creating your very own mosaic to take home. It’s a creative and educational experience that brings the beauty of mosaic art right to you!

Art Exploration: All About the Print – March 28, 2025 (Tickets Coming Soon!)

Workshop sessions at 10:30am and 1:30pm

Unleash your creativity in this hands-on printmaking workshop where you’ll explore two exciting techniques! Start by learning the art of block printing—carve your own design, ink it up, and create a unique print. Then, try your hand at collagraph printmaking by crafting a textured collage and transferring your design onto paper. It’s a fun and dynamic way to experience the world of printmaking, all while creating your own masterpieces to take home!

Science in the Skies: Sounding Rockets – April 25, 2025 (Tickets Coming Soon!)

Workshop sessions at 10:30am and 1:30pm

Become an aerospace engineer! Learn about Sounding Rockets and how they carry science tools, not astronauts, into space. Choose the tools for your rocket’s mission then design, build and launch your own rocket.

Have a group of homeschooling friends? Groups of 15 or more can book a Field Trip! These 3-hour visits are available starting this October!
