Parents at Play
Parents At Play is designed for parents and caregivers of young children to have time together to play and learn, and build peer support networks. The Parents At Play curriculum also supports positive parenting strategies and incorporating play into daily routines. This program is delivered in partnership with Parents Encouraging Parents, a parent education program based in Montgomery County. The model is delivered as a series of four workshops culminating in a play session here at Port Discovery. Lunch is provided through the program. As an incentive to participate consistently, parents or caregivers receive a 6-month membership to Port Discovery.
Fathers at Play
Fathers At Play is designed to empower fathers of young children to engage with their kids through purposeful play approaches. The program also provides participants with an understanding of the types of play through modeling by staff, and the developmental trajectory of their kids as they grow and learn. The model is delivered as a series of four workshops culminating in a play session here at Port Discovery. Lunch is provided through the program. As an incentive to participate consistently, fathers receive a 6-month membership to Port Discovery.
