The legacy exhibit’s last day is September 7, 2026
BALTIMORE, MD [July 27, 2026] | After nearly three decades of inspiring young explorers, Adventure Expeditions exhibit at Port Discovery Children’s Museum will close following Labor Day 2026. One of the last remaining original exhibits from the museum’s opening in 1998, Adventure Expeditions holds a special place in Port Discovery’s history and has welcomed generations of children and families through its immersive, hands-on experiences.
Developed in collaboration with Disney Imagineers, Adventure Expeditions was designed to spark curiosity, imagination, and a sense of discovery. For nearly 30 years, the exhibit has invited children to step into the role of explorers, encouraging them to navigate new environments, engage in imaginative play, and discover the world around them.
As one of the museum’s original exhibits, Adventure Expeditions has been part of countless family visits, school field trips, birthday celebrations, and first experiences at Port Discovery. Its closing marks the end of an important chapter in the museum’s history while creating space for what comes next.
Families are invited to experience Adventure Expeditions one last time before the exhibit closes on September 7, 2026. Port Discovery is also hosting Final Expedition, a special 21+ evening event for gown-ups taking place on Friday, August 28, 2026. The event will give adults an opportunity to explore the museum after hours and experience Adventure Expeditions one last time, while enjoying light food bites and drinks, and themed activities created for the occasion. While Adventure Expeditions is preparing for its final journey, Port Discovery’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for children to learn through play continues. The museum will share more about what is next for its exhibit space in the near future.
Families are encouraged to plan a visit and experience Adventure Expeditions one final time before it closes following Labor Day on September 7, 2026.
