Celebrate Black culture on February 17th through interactive experiences, art projects, storytelling, history and STEM programs. Plus visit special guests and local Black owned businesses!

Storytelling/Music Programs
On Let It Shine, we’ll have various story-time activities and music programming! Join a short story-time in our Discovery Tales activity which will feature books about the experiences of Black children, families, and culture, or join in with our special guests from LTYC in their Lightning and Thunder Workshop focusing on traditional rhythms and spontaneous jams with their bucket drum circle.
Hands-On Activities
Engage in hands-on games and activities centered around Black culture such as using story building cards to create original adventures inspired by principles used in Afrofuturism. Join us in our Port Discovery game show, Show What You Know where you can match up famous and influential Black celebrities from Baltimore to their contributions for the chance to win take-home prizes.
Art Projects
Spend some time creating self-expressive artwork that everyone will admire! Let your light shine with lanterns that you can create in our Studio Workshop.
