Port Discovery Announces Plans for B’More You, a Baltimore-Inspired Exhibit Coming in Summer 2027

A new immersive experience will invite children to explore joy, curiosity, perseverance, kindness, and collaboration through hands-on, creative, and cooperative play.

BALTIMORE, Md. [October 20, 2026] Port Discovery Children’s Museum today announced plans for B’More You, a new immersive exhibit set to open next summer that will invite children to explore who they are and who they can become through play.

Inspired by the energy, creativity, and connection of Baltimore neighborhoods, B’More You will transform more than 4,500 square feet into an urban indoor oasis filled with places to move, imagine, explore their own strengths, and connect with others. As families move through the exhibit, visitor will discover how even small actions can make a difference in the world around them. The exhibit is designed to help children discover joy, curiosity, perseverance, kindness, and collaboration all through play.

Families will begin the experience in a “park,” where they are invited to pause, wonder, and get ready for what comes next. From there, children will journey through a Baltimore-inspired rowhome filled with unexpected opportunities to explore, collaborate, take on challenges, and discover something new about themselves and one another, all while having a lot of fun along the way.

B’More You will be the newest exhibit created within the Museum’s Master Infrastructure Renewal Plan, which is guiding Port Discovery to become a next-generation learning hub for children, families, and educators in Maryland. Architecture firm Cambridge Seven is partnering with the museum to develop B’More You. Exhibit creation is guided by Port Discovery’s At Play Learning approach, which recognizes play as one of the most powerful ways children learn. Rather than simply telling children what it means to be curious, kind, or persistent; the exhibit will provide opportunities to practice those qualities by solving problems, working together, trying again, expressing ideas, and engaging with the people and world around them.

“B’More You is a part of a big, exciting next chapter for Port Discovery,” said Carter Polakoff, President and CEO of Port Discovery. “We’re creating something joyful, surprising and unmistakably Baltimore. Imagine a space where kids have the freedom to play, explore and discover what they’re capable of — building confidence, perseverance and kindness along the way. B’More You is being designed to create those moments again and again, and we can’t wait for families to discover it.”

B’More You is replacing Adventure Expeditions, which closed in September. As the Museum planned for B’More You, staff and designers carefully reviewed Adventure Expeditions, one of the Museum’s original exhibits, to identify beloved elements to preserve, repurpose, or reimagine. The goal is to carry forward the exhibit’s spirit of exploration and discovery while creating an experience designed for a new generation of children and families.

“Adventure Expeditions has been part of Port Discovery since the museum opened and has been woven into the childhood memories of countless families,” said Hope Myers, Vice President of Exhibits and Facilities, Port Discovery. “As we create what comes next, we want to honor that history while building an experience that reflects what we know today about how children learn through play and how museums can help children develop confidence, connection, and a strong sense of self.”

B’More You will open to the public next summer.

Development and creation of this exhibit is made possible by generous grants from Lilly Endowment Inc. and from the State of Maryland.
