As a member of the Education team, the Early Childhood and Literacy Specialist works to provide engaging, high quality content in Port Discovery’s Early Childhood and Literacy-related programs. The Specialist researches, creates, implements, and evaluates innovative educational activities, programs, and events for young children (birth through age 10) and their families that support Port Discovery’s commitment to offer innovative, interactive, playful and engaging learning experiences. In addition to leading, facilitating, and engaging in direct programs with museum visitors, the Specialist conducts trainings for educational programs, engages in education outreach programs, supports grant-related work as it relates to Early Childhood and Literacy, and develops and maintains pertinent community partnerships that will enhance the Museum offerings and mission.
The Workweek for this position is currently Sunday through Thursday but is subject to change. Scheduled work hours will be adjusted according to department/museum needs. Participation in special events, evenings, weekends, and holidays will be necessary.

As a vital part of the Guest Services Department and Port Discovery team, Museum Experience Associates are responsible for providing guests with an excellent, memorable experience, stellar customer service, and supporting the Museum’s mission and educational philosophy. As a member of our team, you’ll support playful learning and discovery through meaningful interaction with children and adults, ignite imaginations, and promote the power of play in children through hands-on experiences.
Port Discovery is seeking individuals who are:

This is an entry-level position, with a starting rate of $11.00 per hour. The position offers up to 29 hours per week; we can provide convenient schedules and shifts for college students.

Port Discovery Children's Museum is looking for a responsible individual to be our part-time Housekeeping Associate. The Associate is responsible for the cleanliness, upkeep, and thorough deep cleaning of all areas within the museum facility. The objective is to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable museum environment for guests and employees. The successful candidate will have good communication skills, can follow instructions, and takes pride in being part of our team!
The position consists of about 20 weekly hours, working the 10:00 am to 2:00 pm shift. Schedule can include weekdays, weekends, and requires flexibility for some events and overnights.
Candidates must be 18 years of age and pass a background check before hire.

Port Discovery’s Exhibit’s Department is seeking a Volunteer/ Intern to assist in the creation and up-keep of all soft props.
Ideal candidate will have intermediate sewing skills, works well independently, and available during the workweek (Monday through Friday). Creativity is a must. This position can be on a volunteer basis or a committed internship. We are flexible.
