Port Discovery Children’s Museum seeks an Associate Director of Educational Programming to oversee the management and delivery of innovative educational experiences.
The Associate Director of Educational Programming will manage a team of educational managers, coordinators, specialists, and subject matter experts in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the museum’s innovative educational programming for all targeted audiences (i.e., new visitors, members, school group field trips, community outreach, and special populations) and locations. The Associate Director will assist in setting the strategic direction for the museum’s portfolio of educational programming, creating and managing the education programming budget, as well as managing and assessing the quality and impact of education program development and delivery.
This position will ensure that educational programming initiatives align with the museum’s mission, overall strategic vision and roadmap, educational and child development standards, trends, and best practices. The Associate Director coordinates with the leaders and managers of Educational Programming, Guest Services, and Community Outreach on the training, coaching, and mentoring of the Educational Programming staff, Community Outreach staff, and/or Guest Services staff on all educational programs to ensure high quality and effective program implementation and the highest quality museum experience. The Associate Director will report to the Vice President of Education & Learning Innovation and is a key member of the Education team.

The Exhibit Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the conceptual planning, design, scheduling and implementation of all in-house exhibit development. The exhibits are extensive in scope and will include Activity Development, Text and Graphic Development, Research and Design. The Coordinator will adhere to budgetary allowances, update project schedules and work closely with related staff to assure quality programming. This position also requires a primary role in the research, acquisition and contract procurement for scheduling Temporary Exhibits to fill the Museum’s calendar for a three to five-year cycle. Organizational skills are necessary for careful documentation of department purchases, invoices and payment requests.
The Workweek for this position is currently Monday through Friday but is subject to change based on museum or department needs. Must be available to work on special events and holidays.

As a member of the museum’s Education team, the Performance Specialist will provide engaging, high quality performances at Port Discovery and ensure an exemplary museum experience for all. The Specialist will research, create, implement, and evaluate innovative education performance activities, programs, and events for young children (birth through age 10) and their families that support Port Discovery’s commitment to offer innovative, interactive, playful and engaging learning experiences. In addition to leading, facilitating, and engaging in performances implemented (either solo / on-person and/or small team), the Specialist will also conduct trainings and support grant-related work as it related to performance productions. In addition, the Specialist will develop and maintain pertinent community partnerships that will enhance the museum’s offerings and mission. The successful candidate will be passionate about the theater and performing while igniting creative imaginations, curiosity, and engagement with museum programming.
The work week for this position is currently Sunday through Thursday but is subject to change according to department/ museum needs. Participation in special events, evenings, weekends and holidays will be necessary.

The STEM Education Specialist will lead Port Discovery’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) educational programming and ensure an exemplary museum experience for all. The Specialist will research, create, implement, and evaluate innovative educational STEM activities, programs, and events for young children (birth through age 10) and their families that support Port Discovery’s commitment to offer innovative, interactive, playful and engaging learning experiences.
This is a part-time position offering 29 hours per week, and the schedule is typically Sunday - Thursday, but is subject to change and may be flexible. Scheduled work hours will be adjusted according to department/museum needs. Participation in special events, evenings, weekends, and holidays will be necessary.

As a vital part of the Guest Services Department and Port Discovery team, Museum Experience Associates are responsible for providing guests with an excellent, memorable experience, stellar customer service, and supporting the Museum’s mission and educational philosophy. As a member of our team, you’ll support playful learning and discovery through meaningful interaction with children and adults, ignite imaginations, and promote the power of play in children through hands-on experiences.
Port Discovery is seeking individuals who are:
